    St George's, set out as the council chamber for Medway Council
    Welcome
    The church of St George was built, but never consecrated, to meet the needs of the men serving in the Chatham Division at HMS Pembroke, the shore base at Chatham Royal Naval dockyard.
    When the RN moved out in 1984 the memorials were removed and placed in store, mainly at Portsmouth.
    The building then passed to Gillingham Borough Council, where two members of staff - Margaret Whitworth and Margarite Kershaw - set about tracking down all of them.
    Today in the ownership of Medway Council, the St George's Centre is usually open to the public on Tuesdays, but is set to become the council's debating chamber.
    This collection of photographs seeks to give a feel for this national treasure.
